Staff Development and Training Commitee Minutes

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

1-2:30pm

Present: Donna Hoffman, Laura Hanson, Karen Hogenboom, Sandy Wolf, Beth Woodard, Cindy Kelly, Joe Zumalt

Absent: Susan Schnuer, Helen Zhou, Shuyong Jiang, Lisa Hinchliffe

LibGuides has offered us a staff training installation for 6 months http://uiuc-training.libguides.com

Supervisory training is going well, and we still have one session and one lunch to go.

Beth met with the Services Advisory group, who’ve suggested that a small working group of folks be created. We will need to write a charge for the group.

A timeline was suggested of Nov 15 for standards, April 15 metrics, and July 15 for improvement plan

GA Orientation for fall

A small group met on May 15, including Scott Walter, David Ward, Susan Avery, Cindy Ingold, Emily Love, Mary Schlembach, Karen Hogenboom, and Al Kagan. The change suggested was to do less with individual databases and improve the database searching session to include more strategies for improving searching and a session on how to select databases.

The Wellness group has scheduled the health fair for July 11 th, and the pedometer challenge went extremely well, thanks to Meg Burger!

No news on the coordinator position or the budget.
