Staff Development and Training Commitee Minutes

Present: Beth Woodard, Sue Searing, John Weible, Cindy Kelly, Tom Teper, Michael Norman, Joe Zumalt, Diana Walter

The next meeting is Tuesday, April 19, 2005 from 1 to 2:00 pm

Beth updated the group on the supervisory group’s progress, indicating that the group met, agreed on 4 sessions, and has identified tentative dates.

Tom Teper noted that the Illini Union has web-based training for students, which they have to pass.  An automatic email to their supervisor is part of the quizzing process.  Preservation has been investigating this.   Quizzing functions from Illinois Compass were discussed and it was noted that Stephanie Atkins is exploring this for Voyager Circulation training.

Cindy noted that Wanda Plawer will need a 30-day break after April.  She is not scheduled to do any sessions after April 21.

There was some discussion of creating a FAQ about Public Machines, including printing, Netfiles, troubleshooting, Office, if there is to be productivity software on all of the Library’s public machines.

The main focus of the meeting was to discuss the draft budget proposal, with the group agreeing to the proposal so far, and suggesting that the Blogging session be repeated.  There was some discussion of what would be cut if the Budget committee didn’t approve the full amount.  The deadline for sending this to the Budget Committee is Friday, April 15, 2005.
