Beth gave an overview of the last meeting minutes and asked the committee to review the
submitted minutes.
2. Meetings for the rest of the semester
Beth indicated that there would be conflicts for several of the upcoming Staff Development
and Training meetings. The committee will only be meeting on Monday, November 10. Beth
may decide to reschedule the December 22 meeting for December 15.
3. Proposal to Budget Committee
The Budget Committee approved both the Lincoln Trails Continuous Learning Service
opportunities as well as the Microsoft Training workshop. The Budget Committee will review
the requests for other Microsoft training opportunities once the training needs survey results have
been collected and Microsoft training needs have been assessed.
4. Upcoming Training Events
The committee discussed the following training events: email changes, voyager circulation for
administration, Excel for collection managers, Voyager reporting, and Microsoft Project
training. Beth will be scheduling the Microsoft Project training soon. The remaining
events have already been scheduled.
5. Training Needs Survey
Final corrections were made to the newly developed Training Needs Survey. The survey
can be found at
http://www.surveyall.com/public/handler_merged.php?sid=24&mid=25.
Beth and John will revise the survey soon.
6. Preservation Committee Mentoring Program and New Employee Orientation Draft
The committee discussed what its role was regarding the development of a new employee
orientation/mentor program. An orientation checklist was discussed as were new employee
competencies. The group also agreed to develop a welcome packet for new employees that would
include both Library and University information. In addition, the committee showed interest
in developing a responsibility statement that would indicate who would be implementing, initiating
and following up on new employment competencies. Beth asked the committee to email her
suggestions regarding this process.
The next committee meeting will be November 10th from 3:15 to 4:30 in room 428 Library.
Respectfully submitted,
