Tina Chrzastowski (Chair)
1. An application was discussed and the committee decided to provide seed money to have the applicants consult with the Survey Research Lab (SRL). RPC felt that more direction was needed to identify survey questions and to focus on survey outcomes. A second idea put forward was to recommend the applicants think about a focus group approach rather than a survey (due to a limited population to survey). Tina will contact the applicants and make these suggestions and the offer to fund additional time with SRL. The applicants are encouraged to use the seed money to further develop their research plan and to come back to RPC with a budget once they know what they need.
2. RPC discussed the brown bags we have sponsored or co-sponsored this year. They have been successful and we are encouraged to continue to host and sponsor research-related seminars, workshops and talks. During our discussion Beth brought up the idea of a Librarians' Study Hall as a way to provide a space and time get-away for busy researchers. The group loved the idea and we will test drive it this summer. Beth has reserved Room 314 for some Tuesdays and Thursday half-days in June and July. Tina will draft an email to promote the event. UPDATE: The study hall will have its premiere on June 12, 9-noon.
3. Due to the June 30 retirement of the RPC Chair, a new chair has been nominated. The Executive Committee will make this appointment before June 30.
4. The meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
