1. The committee reviewed an application. The committee agreed to fund the request in full.  All RPC awards for the current year are available on the RPC website:  http://www.library.illinois.edu/committee/rpc/awards/awards12.html

2. The upcoming Brown Bag sessions that RPC is sponsoring were discussed. Tina is setting up the first session, to be held on April 4, which will focus on internal Library and Campus funding.  Beth Sandore is organizing the second session (April 11), which will focus on external funding resources.  Both Brown Bags will be held in Room 428 Library at noon, lasting about 1 hour.

3.  The RPC was asked to work with Beth Woodard’s group, the Awards and Recognitions Task Force, to help shape the proposed Research Award.  The AULs and Paula have already held some preliminary discussions on the basics of the award.  RPC had similar questions concerning how nominations would be generated (Self-nominated? Peer nominated?), jury, qualifications, etc.  Beth Sandore will forward the AUL’s and Paula’s comments to RPC so that we can incorporate their ideas and suggestions into our draft.  As a preliminary discussion, RPC suggested that the nominations be vetted through the Divisions (finding a way to also vet the AP awards since APs are not in Divisions) and that the review group for this award be the Faculty Review Committee, since that group regularly reviews research of the faculty and is divisionally-represented.  RPC will attempt to have a draft of the Research Award Guidelines to Beth Woodard by April 1.
