1 Budget issues: Rod Allen

Rod provided a report based on the FY08 budget hearing held on March 6, 2007. He discussed estimated costs for FY08 in the areas of campus taxes, faculty promotion costs, salary package contributions, minimum wage increases, the shared digital repository, mass digitization efforts, IT increases, collections, and facilities. There is still no information about the budget for FY08.

 

2. Review and approval of minutes from March 1 and March 5

The minutes were approved.

 

3. Question Time

EC discussed the timeline involved in new faculty searches in relation to the uncertainty of funding for FY08, and recommended that searches proceed as planned, recognizing that we have not yet received budget information for FY08.

 

A personnel issue was discussed.

 

EC will consider the suggestion for a task force on faculty evaluation, and this matter has been added to the parking lot.

 

EC discussed a possible search committee for the position of Director of Development and Public Affairs.

 

4. Revised GIS position description and reconfiguration

EC discussed the revised GIS position description and questions on reconfiguration of the Map and Geography Library. Suggestions were put forward, but no decisions were reached.

 

5. Assessment Coordinator request

A recommendation was made concerning the request to fill the need for a Library Assessment Coordinator through an internal reallocation of faculty time.

 

6. External reviewers for P&T

The discussion was postponed.

 

7. EC and AC—what is the role of each group

The discussion was postponed.

 

8. Review of Search Committee Procedural Guidelines

The discussion was postponed.

 

9. Feedback on Policy for Awarding Emeritus/Emerita Status

The discussion was postponed.
