Present: Paula Kaufman (chair), Lisa German, Bill Maher, Bill Mischo, Lynne Rudasill, Lynn Wiley, Beth Woodard

1. Approval of the minutes-12/8/03

The minutes were approved with one typographical error reported.

2. Interim Sr. Monographic Cataloger position request

The committee approved a candidate and Paula will ask the candidate to serve.

3. Area Studies name change request

The committee discussed the name recommendation and felt that each division has an international and multicultural dimension. The Division will be asked to consider another name. They are welcome to ask for EC’s input again or they may take it directly to the Faculty meeting for discussion and approval.

4. Sousa Archives name change request

The Sousa Archives would like to change its name to the Sousa Archives and Center for American Music. The Executive Committee would like Scott Schwartz to get Karl Kramer’s input as to how the School of Music would feel about the name change. If they approve it Paula will write to the Provost asking for the change.

5. Faculty Position Requests

Search committees were suggested for the Rare Book and Special Collections Head, the Music Library Head, and the Digital Services position. Paula will get input from Janis Johnston before a final search committee is suggested for the Law reference position. The committee will continue to discuss positions at a special committee meeting on January 2.

6. Peer review committee Assignment

The committee suggested a Peer Review Committee for a new, untenured faculty member. Paula will write asking the recommended faculty members to serve.

7. Emerita status for a retiring colleague

The committee approved this and a letter will go to the Provost with its recommendation.
