1. Approval of the minutes
Minutes were approved as submitted.
2. Question Time
Bob Burger agreed to oversee the Music Library until a permanent head is here.
The Committee decided not to examine the open faculty positions until after Paula Kaufman talks to the Provost. It felt that the music library head position needed to go forward.
The alternate to Liberty Dial is not working. Paula Kaufman will talk to Beth Sandore and John Weible about it.
3. External reviewers for two Assistant Professors
Reviewers were selected for each
4. Request to add ISCC Cataloging Chair to CPC
The Committee agreed that was a good move.
5. Update on 05 Budget Plan
The Implementation Team is focusing on some pilot programs to start this summer. They will develop five to six teams that focus on Access, Digital libraries, Cost and mail options, PSED and LSD, and a SWAT team for emergencies. The Implementation Team meets again on May 19 to further develop this idea. Also, because of end-of-year budget constraints and Banner problems, Rod Allen will be excusing himself from the Implementation Team and Peggy Steele will take his place.
6. Discussion about FRC
The discussion included the issue of Peer Review Committees giving the faculty member the evaluators’ names. The Committee determined that they should not receive the names. FRC and P&T should control and update their own websites. FRC, P&T, and EC members should make sure they keep all information confidential. Perhaps signing a letter of confidentiality is warranted.
7. Staff on Faculty search committee issue revisited
It was determined that there are times when it is appropriate to include a staff member on a search committee and that staff should be included in the interview process. But normally the search committee is made up of mostly library and teaching faculty.
