1. Bob Burger visited to discuss Tech Services and Cataloging issues
Bob updated the committee on his involvement with the Tech Services and Cataloging groups. He also reported on the progress of several new initiatives within the Division.
2. Approval of minutes from 14 April
The minutes were approved.
3. Question Time
The committee will go forward with an Honorary Degree Nomination.
4. Change in pay date-is it a cut or not?-Searing
The Executive Committee's understanding of the situation is that there is no pay cut; we will be paid for all the days we work. We regret the short-term hardship this switch may entail for some employees and are pleased that the campus has put a loan program into place. Paula reported that the Chancellor and Provost lobbied UI administration to prevent or postpone this change, but it is integral to the success of UI Integrate.
5. Filling the upcoming Vet Med vacancy
The EC received a memo from the Life Sciences division recommending a search for the Vet Med librarian position upon Mitzi Williams' impending retirement. The EC agreed that the position should be filled and that staffing levels of the Vet Med library be re-evaluated. A search committee was recommended for the Vet Med librarian position.
6. Strategies for dealing with the upcoming budget situation
Preliminary discussions on staffing levels based on various budget cut scenarios were held. These discussions will continue as the FY’04 budget picture becomes clearer.
