What is Primo?

This is a beta release of the Library’s new search tool. Primo provides one-stop access to many of the Library’s collections. It ties collections under one interface, including:

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Catalog
Many articles, reference materials, and e-books
Local and remote digital collections, including selected Illinois Harvest collections and IDEALS

With Primo you can:

Find books (electronic and print), journals (electronic and print), maps, sound recordings, videos, online resources, digital collections, and more with one interface
Find journal and newspaper articles from multiple resources simultaneously
Refine your results to electronic resources, by availability, location, format, publication year, subject, and more
Sign in to access your e-Shelf to view saved results and your library account
Export items by email and to EndNote, Refworks, and del.icio.us

Resources indexed in Primo

What is not included:

Primo contains many, but not all, articles and resources available in the Library’s electronic resources. Scopus results are not in Primo, but they are coming soon. There are no resources from ProQuest, including Digital Dissertations and Historical Newspapers. Many smaller, very subject specific databases are also not included.

To search for additional for journal articles not included in Primo, use Easy Search from the library website or other subject specific indexes or databases

Sign In to Primo

When you sign into Primo (upper right corner of Primo interface) with your last name and our library borrower ID (on your I-Card), you can:

Save your searches
Set up RSS alerts for new items
Save items to your personal e-Shelf
Renew your loans
Request items from Library’s collections (if permissible)
