Primo Introduction Webinar
Back office:
- Where you maintain Primo
- Data Source – repository of records; records for print & depositories that are normalized
Scope: group of records in which a search is performed (locals, subjects, etc.); Scopes are customizable
Facets: group of search results used to refine searches; custom facets can be created, usually done for locations
Ranking system is proprietary but does use feedback
FRBR – relates manifestations of the same works
Integration with SFX:
- SFX can be the delivery method and can also be a data source
- Primo has link to the A-Z list; does use SFX to link to things
- Can also use the 856 field to link
- Can go through SFX or have a direct link
Primo Central:
- Index of citation from various sources
- Stored in cloud
- Set up in the back office; can take 5-10 days to update
OPAC integration:
- Can see holdings, access accounts from Prio
- OPAC via Primo (OvP)—by API
- Can do this locally, but not for all of iShare
Demo:
- University of Incarnate Word
- Can customize header & footer
- Advanced search has filters
- Simple search with scopes
- Capitalize Boolean, use wildcards
- Can determine order of facets
- Star items to store & export
- Can you make lists and folders?
