How to Print from Your Laptop Using Library Printers (For Windows XP)

 

Step 1: Readying your Laptop

You must be connected to a UIUC wireless network through CITES (for example: UIUCnet)

  1. Go to http://www.library.illinois.edu/it/helpdesk/libprint/laptop/xp.html
  2. Under Step 1 on the webpage, click on the link download the setup script
  3. Click Run, or you may save the file on your laptop
  4. Click Run if a warning message appears. Or open the file you just downloaded
  5. Click Next to begin the setup wizard
  6. Click Next using the default name provided (LibPrint VBS Client)
  7. Click Install when ready
  8. A window will pop up instructing you when to click Continue Anyway
  9. Wait for the installation process to finish
  10. Click OK to confirm the installation has finished, then click Next
  11. Click Finish to complete the installation by restarting your laptop
  12. When your laptop restarts, print as you would normally. Check to see if Library B&W (10 cents per page) is listed as an option.  If available, the installation was successful and your laptop will now be able to print from the Library Printers whenever

Step 2: How to Print

  1. Select Print as you would normally
  2. Under Printer Name select  the name of the Library Printer
  3. You will need to go to the Web Release Station page:

https://www-s2.library.uiuc.edu/wrs (You may want to Bookmark this for future use)

  1. On the Web Release Station page, select how you want to pay for your printouts, then click Continue
  2. Login when prompted
  3. Once logged in, you will see a window showing your print jobs
  4. Select a printer using the options available in the drop down list under Printer Location (example: Communications)
  5. Review your print job before clicking Print Me
  6. Once you are finished printing, click Sign Out
  7. Your printouts will be available at the chosen printer

 

*Color printing is not currently available in the Communications Library; it is available in the Main Library, Undergraduate Library, Grainger Library, or the ICL lab in the Education building*
