Search Tips for JUNIOR FACULTY
Did you know that IRIS editors tag records for opportunities directed at junior faculty? In addition to the special link for Jr. Faculty under "upcoming deadlines", you can also search the IRIS database for opportunties for Junior Faculty using the following strategy:
From the Search IRIS page, click on the 'Choose Keywords' button. In the IRIS Thesaurus, select 'Opportunity for Junior Faculty'. Use the check boxes on the left to select the keywords which best describe your searching goals. Scroll to the bottom of that page, click 'Save'. You may continue to select other options from the Thesaurus page. Once you are satisfied with your keywords, click 'Load into Search Statement'. Then click on 'Search'. Narrow your results according to your needs.
We at the IRIS office welcome your search questions: rso@uiuc.edu.

This week we've chosen to highlight three more current grants that focus on research, education, or support with regards to Breast Cancer.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's College Scholarship Award is available to financially assist students who have lost a parent to breast cancer. The program offers college scholarships of up to $10,000 a year, over a four-year period, to young adults and is renewable upon satisfactory progress toward the completion of their degree.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the Department of Health and Human Services offer the Protein Biomarkers of Infection-Associated Cancers grant. The long-term goal of this program is to encourage the development and utilization of protein profiles in early detection, risk assessment, and prevention of cancer.
NIH has joined with the National Cancer Institute to offer the Phased Application Awards in Cancer Prognosis and Prediction to evaluate the utility and pilot the application of new strategies for determining prognosis or predicting response to therapy.
