Google Book Settlement

On March 22, 2011 Judge Denny Chin issued his long awaited opinion on the proposed Google Books Settlement, rejecting the proposal. The issue had been joined as part of the Google digitization project that would make a large number of works available on the internet. The effects of this judgment may be wide-ranging for both libraries and educational institutions. You can read the full text of the decision at http://www.nysd.uscourts.gov/cases/show.php?db=special&id=115. A status conference with the parties will be held on April 25.
