Southeast Asian Digital Library

The Southeast Asian Digital Library is a site that may have been overlooked by some, but provides rich digitized resources for the Southeast Asia region. Photographs, videos, books, indexes, and manuscripts for the nations of Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar/Burma, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam, and Southeast Asia generally. Looking for palm leaf manuscripts from Thailand? You will find a Suwannasang palm leaf from the Jakata (folktales) among others. Need historical photographs of Cambodia, a masters' thesis from the Philippines, or an index to books, book chapters, journal articles, conference papers and selected unpublished sources for Southeast Asia? You can find all of these at this site. In addition to a search box, the site provides browsing through links to the countries covered and the material types. The site is hosted by the Northern Illinois University in collaboration with the Committee on Research Materials on Southeast Asia (CORMOSEA) and other partner institutions.

The site is a result of a TICFIA (Technological Innovation and Cooperation for Foreign Information Access) grant from the United States Department of Education. Institutional members of the project include Arizona State University, Northern Illinois University, Ohio University, University of Hawaii/Manoa, University of Michigan, University of Washington, Yale University in the United States, and Khon Kaen University in Thailand, the Living Memory Project which works on projects in East Timor, Thammasat University in Thailand, the University of San Carlos in the Philippines, and the British Library.
