NEW YORK - The 21st century leaders to be emulated have rendered the traditional command-and-control management style irrelevant and ineffective in today’s borderless, dynamic, inclusive and inventive economy. Women have a big story to tell here.
Numerous statistical indicators put women in the front and center of business change: the U.S. Census Bureau measured women as the largest segment of our population in 2003 and accounted for more than $5 trillion in annual business and consumer spending combined, according to EPM Magazine. What’s more, women–owned businesses generate $2.5 trillion in sales and employ 19.1 million people according to the Center for Women’s Business Research.
