The project examines the impact of the Second World War on the U of I campus by showing how it affected every aspect of campus life, from gender dynamics to the content of coursework.

Students who attended the University of Illinois during the era of the Great Depression tell their stories. These accounts cover politics, employment, activities, organizations, athletics, housing, campus regulations, race relations, and religion.

During the 1960s African American students organized for greater access to education at the University of Illinois. U of I responded by offering the "Project 500" initiative which aimed to expand minority enrollment.
