Description: Papers of Charles H. Sandage (1902-1998), Professor of Advertising (1946-68), head of the Division of Advertising (1957-59) and Department of Advertising (1959-66), and faculty member at Simpson College (1927-28), the University of Kansas (1928-29), and Miami University (OH), include publications, speeches (1939-66), manunscripts, notes, clippings, course materials, reports, memoranda, correspondence, research notes and tabulations, photographs, and proceedings relating to the departments of marketing, journalism, commerce and advertising at Harvard University, Miami University, and University of Illinois, Alpha Delta Sigma professional advertising fraternity, the establishment of the James Webb Young Fund for Advertising Education at U of I, the potential establishment of an Advertising Experiment Station, the American Academy of Advetisers (AAA), the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA), the Association for Education in Journalism (AEJ), the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF), the American Marketing Association (AMA), the radio/TV diary method of survey research including research surveys in Ohio and Illinois, and the connection berween advertising practice and academic training. The series also includes materials relating to the first six editions of Sandage's textbook, Advertising Theory and Practice (1936-63) and the attempts of the AAA to publish a scholarly journal devoted to advertising. Correspondents include Sid Bernstein, Emerson Foote, Vern Fryburger, Earle Lidgin, Frederick S. Siebert, Julian Simon, and S. Watson Dunn.
