BLACK STUDIES AS TEXT 1967 - 2009

www.eblackstudies.org

This is a digital collection of material selected from the historical archive of Peoples College, a political network of scholar-activists in Black Studies under the leadership of Abdul Alkalimat (aka Gerald McWorter). Alumni are now on faculty in the Ivy league, PAC 10, Big 12, Big 10, HBCU's, community colleges, and some remain unemployed.

The aim of this resource is to provide a clear understanding of what has been accomplished in Black Studies "so we can stand on it, improve it, and remain true to the objectives of academic excellence and social responsibility."

Altogether there are 28 documents, searchable PDFs, and more. In particular, the section labeled "Academic Profession" contains the full-texts of various guides to Black Studies core journals, including several editions of the Guide to Scholarly Publishing (1991, 1993, and 2008). Also within this section is a complete run of the Afro Scholar, a bibliographic guide identifying books, journal articles and magazine articles published from Fall 1983 through Winter 1992. In the "Knowledge Network" section one can search the full archive of H-Afro Am (1998-present).
