Government Documents Backlog Cataloging Project

The University Library Content Access Management Unit is looking to hire graduate hourly students for a cataloging project to eliminate a backlog of government publications. The project will last until the end of the Spring Semester and involve the cataloging, processing, and transfer of a large number of items.
Students will perform cataloging work using OCLC Connexion and the Voyager cataloging client, follow local procedures for processing of materials, and perform other tasks as assigned. Cataloging experience, familiarity with MARC and LCSH, and cataloging coursework are desired, but not required. Training will be provided.

This is graduate hourly work and as such will not provide a tuition waiver or any insurance benefits. Pay will be $17.22 an hour. Work will begin in October 2009 and will last until June 2010. Applicants must work at least 10 hours a week. Scheduling is flexible, but the majority of your hours will need to be between 9am and 5pm Monday through Friday, in order to ensure effective collaboration with the cataloging team. Some evening and weekend hours will also be available.
