Library Graduate Assistant Job Description
Technical Services Division position combined with Acquisitions Assistant
(two .25 FTE combined into one .50 with stipend) 20 hours per week
Responsibilities Include:
For Technical Services coordinator: (ten hours a week)
- Assist in the coordination and support of library-wide collection management projects
- Learn appropriate cataloging skills to process materials for transfer to the Oak Street off
site storage facility
- Help at Library Book Sale
- Learn various other processes as required to support reserves, the gift program, and other IPM
workflows
- Attend TSD meetings if possible and take/post meeting minutes
For Acquisitions Head: (ten hours a week)
- Assist in each of the various tasks of acquisitions (ordering, receiving, claiming, approving
invoices, approval
- Assist in copy cataloging routines associated with firm order receipt and approval plan receipt
and assist as needed.
- Work on projects related to work flows changes related to format and vendor changes
- Update documentation for acquisitions workflow and direct staff to them
- Assist with Outreach using various media (email, web updates, guides, open houses and in house
forums)
- For both:
- Help to maintain web sites as needed
- Research topics as assigned and Work on special projects as assigned
Expectations:
- Cataloging experience in an academic setting or complex database entry/maintenance experience
desired
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment including taking direction from multiple
staff members.
- Ability to work independently on assigned projects
- Communication skills in dealing with staff from all areas of the Library
- MS Office experience
