Type: 33% graduate Assistantship (13.2 hours per week) 9 month appointment (August 16, 2012-May 15, 2013)

 

Immediate availability (must be hired by September 4)

 

Unit: CAM/Slavic cataloging

 Funded by REEEC

 The duties connected to this appointment include assisting in providing intellectual access to Slavic and East European materials in different subjects, including literature, linguistics, history, political science, social studies, and different formats, including print, microfiche and microfilm. The incumbent will perform copy and original cataloging of Slavic and East European monographs and serials using Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR2R), Resource Description and Access (RDA), Dewey Decimal classification (and possibly LC classification), and Library of Congress subject headings and authority records. The incumbent will utilize Ex Libris' Voyager integrated library system and OCLC Connexion (the world's largest bibliographic utility). The incumbent will work at the UIUC Library cataloging department (CAM/Slavic cataloging).

Required: reading knowledge of Russian or other major Slavic language

Desired: some knowledge of Slavic and East European culture or history
