The Illinois Digital Environment for Access to Learning and Scholarship (IDEALS) is seeking a graduate assistant (20 hours per week) for a range of tasks related to the maintenance and uptake of IDEALS, the campus institutional repository, as well as an upcoming implementation of a faculty profile system. Responsibilities will include developing documentation and educational materials for users, managing batch ingests into IDEALS, establishing workflows for populating and editing a faculty profile system, and working with a range of users and stakeholders in both systems. The GA will work closely with the IDEALS coordinator. This position will be based in the Scholarly Commons in the Main Library.
Appointment would be effective August 16 2014-May 15, 2015. Supervisor for this position will be Sarah L. Shreeves, IDEALS Coordinator.
IDEALS is a set of collections and related services that together constitute the campus institutional repository. IDEALS disseminates, preserves, and provides persistent and reliable access to the research and scholarship of faculty, staff, and students on the UIUC campus. It provides an environment that allows faculty, staff, and students (as well as the schools, departments, and research centers to which they belong) to easily deposit digital research and scholarship into a stable and well-maintained archive and to promote and provide open access to their research and scholarship. The successful candidate must have an interest in scholarly communication issues. The candidate must also have strong written and oral communication skills. The ability to author HTML web pages is desired. Knowledge of copyright issues as relating to scholarly communication is also preferred. Ability to be flexible and work independently desired.
