The University Archives seeks two or more talented undergraduate, graduate or academic hourly employees to assist with the support and development of the open-source Archon/ArchivesSpace and myKive projects.
Both Archon/ArchivesSpace and myKive are high profile open-source research projects to provide software that is useful for archives, libraries and museums. As a member of our team, you will contribute heavily to the design and development of a web application, gaining substantial experience working on a large-scale project that is useful to many institutions and researchers.
The successful applicants will work in one of the following areas:
Applicants must be skilled at object-oriented programming, designing complex data structures, and developing efficient algorithms that can manipulate large data sets. You must also be able to work well in a team environment and meet deadlines.
You must have the capacity to write functioning, clean code using the following technologies: Ruby on Rails, PHP5, Solr/Lucune or other indexing software, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. You must also be able to communicate clearly in writing and orally. Experience developing database- driven web applications is preferred, but is not required.
Starting pay is a minimum of $16.00 per hour for an undergraduate employee, or commensurate with skills and experience.
