New Copy Service Promotes EfficiencyThis fall students and faculty will notice an increase in photocopying rates, particularly when paying by cash rather than using the Value Card System. The new rates, which will be posted on all copy machines, are: 8.5 x 11” paper = 8.5¢ per copy (cash price = 15¢/copy) 8.5 x 14” paper = 9.5¢ per copy (cash price = 15¢/copy) The increase totals .5¢ per copy for Value Card purchases and 5¢ per copy for cash purchases. The new rates are primarily the result of a new reduction feature that allows users to copy an increased number of pages at once, making more efficient use of their time and money and reducing the amount of paper used. Consider the following example that compares the cost of copying four standard-size pages using the old and new service: Value Card Price Cash Price Last year: 32¢ (8¢ per copy x 4 pages) 40¢ (10¢ per copy x 4 pages) This year: 17¢ (8.5¢ per copy x 2 pages*) 30¢ (15¢ per copy x 2 pages*) *Number of pages reduced by half due to new reduction feature The Library and Campus Vending are introducing the reduction feature as a service enhancement that reduces total cost for the majority of copying jobs. When used in conjunction with the Value Card System, the savings to Library users can be significant (in the above example, nearly 50%). Individuals may purchase a copy card or add value to the i-card at these Library locations: Biology, Circulation, Education and Social Science, Grainger, Law, Music, Physics*, Undergrad, and Vet Med*. For a complete list of sites, visit http://www.library.uiuc.edu/help/orientation/faqnew/copycard.asp. In order to serve all users effectively, the new equipment containing the reduction feature is compliant with the standards set forth by the 1997 Illinois Accessibility Code and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Questions concerning the new copy service or Value Card System can be directed to Steve Lawson, manager of Campus Vending, at slawson@uiuc.edu or (217) 333-7106. *Add value only |
