"Think Globally, Act Globally, US-China Librarian Collaboration" held an orientation session on January 23, 2009 during the ALA Midwinter meeting in Denver, Colorado. There were 36 people who attended the meeting. The session covered topics from perceptional idea of building a strong partnership to practical details on logistics and selection process.

Agenda:

1.      Introduction and announcements - Sha Li Zhang, CALA President

2.      Overview of the IMLS grant and its three components - Shuyong Jiang, Project Director

3.      How to get involved in the project? - Haipeng Li, CALA Executive Director
a.      Host the visiting library directors from China
b.      Become presenters at the seminars in China
c.      Become a program facilitator at the UIUC training sessions
d.      Become a mentor for the Chinese Librarians at the ALA conferences, etc.

4.      CALA implementation process - Lisa Zhao, Chair, International Relations Committee

c.      Prepare contents and delivering methods
